The Deogarh Castle is located on a hillock and is encircled by the town. It was built in 1670 A.d. by Rawat Dwarkadasji of the Chundawat Clan of the Sisodia dynasty. Constructed by the famed Sompura arhchitects, well-know for their talents, Deogarh is a testimony to their skilled craftsmanship. Additions and alterations were carried out according to the needs of the resients. There are five floors and over 200 room in the palace numerious balconies, carved pillar and extensive use of marble make this palace attractive. Sevral rooms have murals done by local painters after whom the Deogarh school of painting has acquired fame the world over. The family has a large collection of Deogarh miniatures.
Special Features: Natjdwara, Kankroli. Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur are some of the tourist attractions located near by, Bhil dances and local folk singers can provide entertainment in the evenings. Bird-watching on Ragho Sagar lake is possible from the balcony of Gokul Vilas. For nature-lovers there are several picnic spots around Deogarh. Jeep safaris can be arranged on request.
