The Kachhawaha rulers of Amer (Late Jaipur) had been associated with Sawai Madhopur for centuries. They received the fort of Ranthambhor from the Mughals and the forests around the fort. Erlier known as Sawai Madhopur because of the nearby township by that Earlier known as Sawai madhpur because of the nearby townshop by the area here is studded with remnants of its historic past. Old defencsive walls, well, mosques and hunting lodges.
Castle jhoomar Baori is located 4 kms. North-east of Sawai Madhopur. A hunting lodge for the guests of the rulers of Jaipur. It was built in the late 19th century by maharaja Madho Singh of Jaipur. It was built a castle out of a fairy tale, stuated on a hill with the lush green forests surrounding it. Castle Jhoomar Baori has now been coverted into a hotel and run by the RTDC. The rooms are spacious and well-furnished.
Special Features: The Ranthambhor National Park was established as a sanctuary in 1955 and was one of the original areas under project Tiger. A must for all overs of nature as the region is rich in wildlife, birdlife and insects.
