Umead Bhawan is one of the most beautiful palaces of Kota. Built in 1009 by Mahrao Umed Singh II of Kota this palace was designed by Sir Swinton Jacob who spent many years in Rajsthan and has quite a few palace and other palatial buildings to his creding. The overall design of the Palace is European though there are al lot of authentic Rajput architectural details-parapets, balustrades, arches and decorative brackets are the hallmarks of Rajput style an can be fond all over the palace. the interiors are mainly European in therir style. There is an Edwardian drawing room, a banqueting-hall packed with hunting trophies, a billieard room and a very well laid out garden surrounding the palace.
There are courtyards and long corridors, Italian marble floors and some of the most exquisite paintings on callings.
